Land Professionals Mutual Society Incorporated (LPMS) is a voluntary Risk Management organisation representing the interests of Land Surveyors, Valuers and Quantity Surveyors in New Zealand.
LPMS has arranged group professional liability insurances for members since August 1976. Originally membership was restricted to consulting and land surveying practices but was expanded in 1983 to include valuers in public practice.
In 1985 membership was extended to kindred professions involving professional practices who provide consulting services in clerk of works, in engineering, farm management, forestry, planning, property and quantity surveying.
The principal objectives of LPMS are:
LPMS members are continually updated with information on risk minimization skills and loss prevention techniques. LPMS arranges seminars and periodically issues information to members in newsletters.
Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance for liability or professional negligence is arranged through a group scheme tailored to the specific needs of its members. A Claims Committee assists members faced with an actual or potential claim.
The Policy is updated annually as the industry goes through changes.
