We arrange policies with NZ based liability insurance companies, and are led by highly-qualified and experienced land professionals. LPMS is a voluntary risk management organisation that represents the interests of surveyors, quantity surveyors and valuers and kindred professions which is led by highly-qualified and experienced land professionals.
The LPMS Board has a minimum of six members, and must include two valuers and two surveyors. Our Board is made up of highly qualified and experienced specialists in their respective professions. They are elected by the membership of the society and serve a three year term. Additional board members can be appointed by the executive.

Colin is a Director of Cuttriss Consultants in Lower Hutt. Graduating university with a BSurv in 1984 he joined the Company then named Cuttriss McKenzie Martin Ltd for 6 years. He spent four years in London as a highways engineer before returning in 1994, going on to become Director in 1998. Colin joined the LPMS board in 2003 and specialises in land development consultancy, and preparation of resource consent applications. He is also a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, Registered Professional Surveyor, and a member of the NZIS
Alan is the Managing Director of Alan Stewart Property Services Limited and joined the LPMS Board in 2002. A graduate of Lincoln University with a Diploma in Valuation and Farm Management (VFM), he is a Registered Valuer. Alan provides a wide range of property valuation related consultancy, with a particular expertise in specialist rural and rural/residential matters. Specialist rural assignments include work on behalf of corporate clients, provision of evidence as an expert witness, and adjudication of property related disputes.
Alan served as the National President of NZIV through 1997/98.
Director of The Surveying Company Hawkes Bay Ltd, Brian was appointed to the LPMS Board in 2000 and was appointed to the Surveyors Claims Committee as Chairman in 2003. Brian holds a Diploma in Surveying from Otago University and became a Registered Surveyor in 1976. Brian specialises in Surveying and Land Development consulting, Cadastral Surveying, Business Management and Project Management. He is also a Member of Consulting Surveyors NZ.
Neil Edwards is a director of Ortus International Limited in Wellington. Neil is a registered professional quantity surveyor and is an Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors. He has over 40 years' experience in the quantity surveying and cost control field and is a specialist in feasibility studies, project monitoring on behalf of financial institutions, insurance valuations, value management and cost planning. Neil has been director in charge of many landmark projects throughout New Zealand and has undertaken insurance valuations throughout South East Asia and in the United Kingdom. Currently, Neil is chairman of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
Earl is a Registered Valuer and is the Principal of Gordon Valuations. Earl joined the LPMS Board in 1984 and is also the Chair of the Professional Practice Committee for the Property Institute of New Zealand. Earl brings a wealth of experience to LPMS in Valuation, Arbitration and Property Consultancy. Earl is a member of the LPMS Valuers Claims Committee.
Gary was appointed to the LPMS Board in 2005. Gary became a registered Surveyor in 1981 and a Registered Professional Surveyor in 2005. His areas of expertise extends to Project Management, Cadastral Surveying, Unit Title subdivision, High Rise Building and Construction setout and Rentable Area Measurement. Gary was appointed a Board member of the Cadastral Surveyors Licensing Board from its inception in 2002, completing his term in early 2010. Gary is a member of the LPMS Surveyors Claims Committee.
Geoff is a Director of Terramark Ltd, Dunedin and joined the LPMS Board in 2002. He has been a Member of the Consulting Surveyors of NZ since 1989 and is the immediate past Chairman. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Surveying and is a Licensed/Registered Professional Surveyor and brings extensive Surveying Consultancy and Business Management experience to LPMS.
Pat is a Director at Kendons Chartered Accountants Ltd, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration and joined the LPMS Board as Secretary in 1998. As well as his LPMS appointment, Pat is also a member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, is a Trustee of the Laura Ferguson Trust in Wellington and is also a Trustee of the Bougainville Library Trust.
Patrick is a registered valuer and has been a director of Gribble Churton Taylor Limited in central Auckland since 2004. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Property Administration Degree from Auckland University and is an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (ANZIV), and also a Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand (SPINZ). Patrick has been working as a registered valuer for 19 years and has appeared as an expert witness before the District Court, High Court, Weathertight Homes Resolution Service and the Valuers Registration Board. He is also on the Auckland Branch committee of the Property Institute of New Zealand and New Zealand Institute of Valuers.
Ross is an Associate Director of AON New Zealand and is the liability insurance company consultant responsible for LPMS and a number of other professional groups. He has wide experience in New Zealand and London Markets in the field of professional liabilities, particularly in the major banking and economic sectors in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
Doug is Client Services Manager at Aon and specialises in the servicing of LPMS Members and other kindred groups' insurance enquiries. He has 27 years experience with the Professional Risks team.
Bryce is Account Executive at Aon and specialises in the servicing of LPMS Members and other kindred groups' insurance enquiries. He has 17 years Insurance experience across a number of different service channels.
Gaynor is the Claims Manager in the Aon Professional Risks Division. She has 20 years' experience in the liability insurance industry and five years handling professional indemnity and associated claims for LPMS Members and other allied professions. Prior to that she was Claims Manager at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance in London.
